Dem R%C4%83dulescu


Dem Rdulescu was a Romanian theatre, film and television actor and academic. He was also a professor at the Universitatea Naional de Art Teatral i Cinematografic I.L. Caragiale, in Bucharest.

Dem Rdulescu was born in Rmnicu Vlcea in a family of merchants. After graduating from the Nicolae Balcescu National College in Rmnicu Vlcea, he had to make a choice between a career as a professional sportsman and acting. He was even awarded a golden star at an amateur boxing championship. In 1956, he won first prize for interpreting Steaguri pe turnuri at a contest dedicated to young actors. He was then scouted by Sic Alexandrescu which meant the beginning of Dem Rdulescus acting career. Rdulescu befriended Ion Cojar and Liviu Ciulei with the later he collaborated for the role of Farfuridi in O scrisoare pierdut where he had exceptional actors as colleagues Rodica Tapalag, Petre Gheorghiu, tefan Bnic, Mircea Diaconu, Octavian Cotescu, Cioranu and Ciulei himself. Liviu Ciulei called Dem Rdulescu a genius of acting. He died on September 10, 2000 in Cmpina after previously having suffered a stroke.
